Montmartre
Montmartre! Can I explain to you how excited we were to see this part of Paris?! Anyone who has watched Amélie knows that this section of the city is special, for it is where Amélie lives and works. Obviously our trip would not be complete, therefore, without a trip to Les Deux Moulins, the café from the film.
Montmartre has a very laid back, sleepy kind of feeling, even with the tourists overflowing from the Sacre Coeur and the thousand pictures being taken of every baguette that dares grace a boulanger window. We did not have very much time there, and it was one of the places I would most like to explore more when we return. But, we did get a little time to wander around and see the twisty streets that reminded me so much of Antwerp and we did get a little respite of the constant thrum of Paris.
It was refreshing to see this different side of the city, and to find a place that seemed...more familiar to me, even though I had never been before. Life's funny like that, non?
Have a great weekend, and look forward to two last Paris posts, on Monday + Wednesday.
