Madrid. It's like walking around a large outdoor museum. Everything is beautiful. Every building is gorgeous. The Parque Retiro is everything a pleasure park should be. It rivals Paris, Rome, and Barcelona in its monuments and architecture. We loved strolling the streets with our heads up (very touristy) taking in a flourish here or a carved rose there, or an angel perched just above our heads. The people of Madrid were welcoming even when we stumbled into local spots with our not-so-good Spanish.
I'd drink Cava from a rooftop here any day.
To get the best views of Madrid:
9th floor of the Corte Ingles in Callao (also there, the "Gourmet Experience", so you can have Cava, wine, cheese, tapas, sushi, etc while looking out over Madrid.)
